Which HxGN SmartNet Port should I be using - 9301 or 9201?
The question always come up where a user has to decide which port to use with their GNSS Rover when connecting to HxGN SmartNET. The easiest solution is to log into your HxGN SmartNET portal and run through the Connection & Config Tool to determine the port to connect to:
Generally speaking, the different ports have different mountpoints which are all designed to be optimized for their application needs. The mountpoint are however tied directly to the type of license purchased.
There are 3 major types of licenses: Survey RTK license, Machine Control/Construction license, GIS based license. A user can always check their account in SmartNET portal to see the type of license they have:
Based on this, then you can determine the recommended Port and Mountpoint to use for your equipment:
License Type: | Survey | MC/Construction | GIS |
Port to use: | 9301 | 9201 | 9201 |
Mountpoint: | MSM_iMAX GNSS (Network) MSM_NEAR GNSS (Single Base) | mc-icon-msm GNSS (Network) | zeno-msm GNSS (Network) |
Important note from SmartNET:
In the past, SmartNet have advertised MSM_iMAX, MSM_ViRS and MSM_NEAR mountpoints on Port 10000 as the standard mountpoints for operations with NRTK (Standard Survey) licenses. These mountpoints will remain in place indefinitely, so there are no immediate changes required for existing licenses. While existing licenses will still have access to the legacy mountpoints on Port 10000 they will no longer be advertised or recommended for use. Use Port 9301 or 9201!
